We gathered names of A list artistes who spent majority of their life's in Surulere and are currently making the industry proud in and outside the country. This amazing talents did not only live in Surulere ,but they began their careers  in the hood.Big ups to this talented artistes.

1.     WIZKID
      Ayodeji Balogun popularly known as Wizkid is one of the greatest artistes from Africa born and breed in Ojuelegba /Shitta .he is an amazing talent straight from surulere , He started recording music at age 11 and managed to release a collaborative album with the Glorious Five, a group he and a couple of his church friends formed.

  In 2009, he signed a record deal with Banky W's record label Empire Mates Entertainment (E.M.E). He rose to  prominence in 2010 with the release of the song "HOLLA AT YOUR BOY" from his debut studio album, Superstar in 2011.           
 In 2012, Wizkid signed a one-year endorsement deal with Pepsi reportedly worth 350,000 U.S dollars.Moreover, a source reported that Wizkid's Pepsi contract was renewed for another two years.
 On 23 October 2013,Wizkid won the award for the next rated artiste at the headies 2011. In addition to winning the award, he was awarded a 2012 Hyundai Sonata courtesy of The Headies and its affiliates. The car's presentation ceremony took place at the Silverbird Galleria in Victoria Island, Lagos. Guy Murray Bruce, Bola Salako and Ayo Animashaun were present during the ceremony. 

On the 5th of  March 2013,  Wizkid established his label imprint Starboy Entertainment,while on the 17th of  April 2013, Wizkid signed Maleek Berry to Starboy Entertainment. Wizkid and Maleek Berry's work credits include "Lagos to Soweto" and "The Matter", among others. On the 29th of April 2013, Premium Times reported that Wizkid signed producers Uzezi Oniko and Okiemute Oniko, popularly known as Legendury Beatz, to his label. He made the announcement viaTwitter.  On the 9th of May 2013, he unveiled photos of himself with the aforementioned acts signed.On the 20th of August  2013, Wizkid signed artist LAX to the label. So Wizkid has gotten so many recognition's and awards both in the country and outside.

 

2. EMMY GEE;
    He goes by the name Emmanuel Nwankwo, last born of four siblings. He is popularly known as Emmy Gee, he is a rapper who grew up in surulere, Nigeria, and also completed his primary and secondary education in Nigeria prior to moving to South Africa. Emmy Gee's debut single Rands and Nairas was released in 2013. The song features rap vocals from AB Crazy and DJ Dimplez. In a 2014 interview with ZAlebs, Emmy Gee said that after recording the song, he had a feeling that the song was going to be successful. He also revealed that AB Crazy wrote the song's hook, and said that they recorded the song to showcase the unity between Nigeria and South Africa. The music video for Rands and Naira  was shot and directed in South Africa by Nick Roux of Molotov Cocktail Productions. 

In July 14, 2014, Emmy Gee released the remix of Rands and Nairas featuring Ice Prince, AB Crazy, Anatii, Phyno, Cassper Nyovest and DJ Dimplez. 

Emmy Gee was nominated for various awards such as Nigeria Entertainment Awards,for Best Music Video of the Year Artist & Director) , Channel O Music Video Awards for Most Gifted Newcomer and Most Gifted Video of the Year

    3. SKIIBII:

His real name is Abbey Elias better addressed as Skiibii Mayana aka Swaggerlee of Africa . He is a Nigerian artiste and songwriter currently signed to Five Star Music owned by Emoney . This young started hes career  in surulere , The name Skiibii originated in his early years, when his jovial uncle nicknamed him Skiibii. Gradually , his parents began to call him the name and sometimes they even forget his real name because they actively call him Skiibii . he said that ‘Skiibii’ means “a smart and sharp person” and “mayana” is a Spanish word which means tomorrow or future. He was born on the  July 5th 1992 .
 

Skiibii  started music during his secondary school days just like many other Nigerian musicians . He initially started as a rapper . From rap, he got to study the increased influence of Afrobeat sounds, hence he switched to secular music.  He revealed in an interview that music has always been his thing right from his day one on this earth . His early desire was to become a professional singer “Music has always been in me. Music is my life. I started music when I was in JSS 1, I started with rap with my friends.”     
     On the 24th of December 2014, Skiibii was signed to Five Star Music led by Kcee and owned by his younger brother E money. After being signed to Five Star Music, he was given  a brand new  2014 Hyundai SUV. Most of his songs include  Aya Mi, Sampu, Stay With Me,Follow D Ladder, Ah Skiibii ,Ah Skiibii Remix Feature Olamide Baddo.

    4.  MYRO;

He's hit single odi okay makes him one of the best out of surulere with massive airplay's from radio and Tv stations over africa , Myro has featured with the likes of Oritsha Femi and has travelled  for tours in Europe . Apart from music, he owns a clothing line and a customized business.

  5.  MAYOWA BAE;

Mayoa Bae AKA your chosen boy the omotonso nigbogbo Surulere, is an exceptional musician not just an hip hop artiste , being featured and has worked with Super stars like Davido , 9ice, Soul E , Style Plus, Terry Da Rapman, and still counting. He's music Zaza Dance,and Mayowa Bae, makes him the streets favorites in the community and  International with good airplay, from radio stations both in Lagos , Abuja, Liberia, and in New York. With thousands of different people making dance videos to his music both local and internationally . He's currently signed to TPSA entertainments and the founder of #Ahhpepe. 

 6. SHIRA AKA MR SWAG MASTER;

'He has a good sense of  fashion and he;s one of the brand ambassadors for an international clothing line.  

  7.  OLALAKESIDE;

He is the Shana Wole Crooner , dropped that massive Elegushi spender few years ago with a video shoot based by surulere based star boy video director and photographer ... His hit single Shanowale is still rocking the club till date.

  8.   CAZE;

 Habeeb Opeyemi Kazeem better known by his stage name Caze Bombay because his favorite gin Bombay sapphire and a few other nicknames like Big Caze or Caze Rozay, is a Nigerian entertainer, song writer and musician. Caze recently put together the record label Fresh Movement Incorporates Music(FMINC) with his friend and manager 2sleazy. Caze was born born June 28, 1988 in Ijesha-tedo,Surulere,Lagos state Nigeria,

Caze has been Recording for a while, he started with a few demos before he recorded his first single:-Got Money(prod by micah) in 2009, with a follow up of " Rozay" (prod by micah, mixed and mastered by Fooster Zeeno). In October 2011, He recorded a hit Dancehall track in Nigeria titled Toba Lejo (If you can dance) produced by Nigeria's popular producer K-Solo which is still a banger on every nigerian street, club, radio and bars.
His most recent single "jeun soke" According to fans is a feel good, relaxation music anybody can relate to and enjoy anytime anywhere.Caze released a song titled Lagos city in January 2017.

   9. RAZOR; 

  Razor remains one of the best out of Surulere, he has worked with the likes of Seriki, Obesere, Dj Baddo, hes official producer Drum phase produced and mixed music for Patoranking ,Qdot, Slimcase, Manya and more.

   10. X2SEVEN;

He is originally known as Stanley P. C Akajiaku  and has  got the love from the streets and the support of the Igbo's in the hood .  He releeased Onye Mbu N’Obi  X27 Entertainments  in 2015 and in 2016 he came up with a single titled  OVERLOAD produced by one of Nigeria’s finest QASEBEATZ who produced Mc Galaxy’s Recent song Dakkada.  
  X2Seven has thrilled the industry with some of the finest singles ever heard.
