I challenged myself to be better than my roomate - Dj Shogzy

    We had  a short interview with Niniola's DJ Shogzy about why he decided to become a Dj from studying biology and genetics in school and he had this to say about how he started and he's journey so far.


 

 

 

 

  • Why did you decide to become a Dj ?

   Actually it all started when i was in Yaba Tech and got my fairly used Dell Laptop 2009 it came with a virtual Dj software . I Just started playing songs and tried mixing on it software but i knew then i was doing rubbish , lol so i lost interest. More so, in unilag when i was in year 2 as at  2012, i had a j room mate who wasnt a Dj but he was good, he used the virtual software so i had challenged myself , i wanted to do better than him then i started going online, watching youtube videos, and here i am today not just a virtual Dj but i also use serato better. 

 We all know Nigerian parents dont usually support their children to go in to the industry , how did your parents take this? 

  • They've bin very supportive and i thank God for that.

How has the journey been so far? 

  • It has not been easy , because most times i get to return home from gigs late at night , most times i get to stay at home 1 month without gigs and this is what i do for a living.

Various people you've worked for ?

  • I have done gigs with different clients, wedding gigs, birthday events. i have also worked with various clubs on the mainland . Currently I Dj for Niniola ( maradona crooner) and i also Dj for Afro100connect and Radio Continental 102.3fm

Where do you see yourself in the next 3 - 5 years?

  • I see myself as being one of the best in the industry.
